The Legal Status of Women

The author explains that the law stablished that a woman could be sue and sued only if she was unmarried, but...if she was married she didn't act by herself, she had to be under the direction of her husband.

It was in England, where equity law started to be practice. In USA, law stablished that a married woman could have their own propertys and fitght for her children in case she got divorced.

In 19th century, women and children started to work outside their homes, but they worked as long as 12 hours per day, and in 1847 England stablished a law that decreed tha hours that they could work or not.

In 1964, the civil rights act, promoted a law that prohibited discrimination to women by any company.
Despite of that, discrimination continue in other ways, women can't have credit cards or credits to buy a car, house, or something they wantedm so they were aimed to abort, make crime, prostitution and things that made her values go down.
In 1973 United States prohibited abortion if the woman had 3 months of pregnancy.
In 1960 United Kingdom create a law that allow the equal pay to women and men.

 

I think that government and men did not wanted to allow women to show that they could do the same things and be equal, it was just the ideology that women only had to be at home and did things that characterized a real "woman" as a wife, mother and woman.
I am proud of that women that fought for their rigths and showed all the capacity that women have, just give us more oportunities and more facility to be ourselves in a society that is very competitive.
